The liberal left’s push to rewrite history is more than misguided — it’s audacious and painfully transparent. By sanding down the rough edges of past wrongdoing, they attempt to recast perpetrators as misunderstood figures rather than individuals responsible for real harm. This softening isn’t about truth or education; it’s about reshaping public memory to fit an ideological comfort zone.
In doing so, they erode the integrity of historical record. When facts are selectively edited, reinterpreted, or sanitized, students and citizens lose access to the lessons that only honest history can teach. A nation cannot confront its past or grow from it if the past is constantly being repackaged to protect certain narratives or shield favored groups from accountability.
True progress requires clarity, not revisionism. Preserving the unvarnished truth — even when it is uncomfortable — is essential for a society that values responsibility, learning, and moral courage. Rewriting history to soften perpetrators doesn’t heal wounds; it deepens them by denying reality and undermining the very foundation of collective understanding.
