WHY HIS RE-ELECTION IS IMPORTANT TO KANE TAX PAYERS

Why Kane County Taxpayers Should Rally Behind Chris Lauzen’s Re-Election Bid

Aurora, IL – August 4, 2025 — In the heart of his childhood neighborhood on Lehnertz Avenue in Aurora, Chris Lauzen, current Kane County Treasurer and former County Chairman and State Senator, formally announced his campaign for re-election. With decades of public service under his belt, Lauzen is positioning himself as the experienced steward Kane County needs to navigate a critical transition in its Treasury office.

Lauzen’s tenure as Treasurer has been marked by tangible fiscal achievements that directly benefit taxpayers. Under his leadership, the County’s annual interest income surged from $2 million to an impressive $20 million. His office has overseen the sympathetic collection of $1.6 billion in annual property taxes, ensuring both efficiency and compassion in the process. Additionally, Lauzen spearheaded a strategic banking shift that saved Kane County over $600,000—an operational overhaul not attempted in 22 years.

Transparency has also been a cornerstone of Lauzen’s administration. His team has consistently delivered accurate, audited financial statements to the public, reinforcing trust in the County’s fiscal management.

But Lauzen’s re-election bid isn’t just about past performance—it’s about preparing for the future. With four seasoned staff members, collectively holding 113 years of experience, set to retire within five years, Lauzen emphasizes the urgency of recruiting and training their successors. He warns that mismanaging this transition could cripple County operations, and asserts that his proven systems and leadership are essential to maintaining stability.

Lauzen’s commitment to fiscal responsibility is deeply personal. Recalling childhood conversations with his grandfather, who lamented rising property taxes, Lauzen draws a direct line from those early experiences to his current mission: protecting taxpayers from being priced out of their homes. He frames his candidacy as a response to political indifference and mismanagement, declaring himself the “serious, experienced and proven anti-tax-increase candidate” Kane County needs.

As the County faces a pivotal moment, Lauzen’s track record and forward-looking vision offer voters a compelling case for continuity in the Treasurer’s office.
