D303 Communitywide Education Facilities Committee Meeting
Next meeting on Tuesday, December 9

Dear D303 Community:
We officially kicked off the work of our D303 Communitywide Education Facilities Committee on November 18. We have more than 100 parents, students, staff, and community members who have volunteered to be a part of this important conversation about the future of our schools and learning facilities. This committee reflects our belief that decisions about our schools and facilities should be shaped by the people who use them every day—our students, families, staff, and community members. Their experiences and perspectives are essential as we plan for the future of our learning environments.
Our D303 homepage now has a link to the Facilities Committee website, which has complete information on this six-month process, which will culminate with a report to the School Board. Their report will inform future Board discussions about facilities planning and investment. We are deeply grateful to the more than 100 individuals who have committed their time and insight to this effort. Their willingness to participate speaks to the strength of our community and our shared commitment to providing the best possible learning spaces for our students.
At our first meeting, I thanked our Committee members for their time and commitment to our schools, staff, and students and gave them an overview of how we’ll spend our time together. Then, our team presented high-level information about our facilities and how school funding and budgets work–to provide an understanding of where we’re seeking their input and what the options are for investing in our school buildings and campuses.
After that 30-minute presentation, the last hour of the meeting was spent with the Committee Members discussing at each table the important information that they feel is essential for the community to know and the questions and issues they want us to prioritize as we prepare for each of the Committee meetings over the next six months. A summary of the feedback from those activities is posted on the Committee website.
The next Committee meeting is December 9. We will continue to update the Committee website as needed and we will be reporting back to you after each meeting. If you have any questions or would like any additional information, please feel free to reach out at Communications@d303.org or 331-228-2000.
Thank you for being a part of D303 and for all that you do to support our schools, staff, and students.
Dr. Paul Gordon
Superintendent
