Multiple charges filed

Trevor J. Roston, a 33-year-old pediatrician, has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy with intellectual and physical disabilities at an Elgin hotel on November 29. Authorities say Roston followed the minor into a poolside bathroom, locked the door, and assaulted him. The victim, who has an IQ of 55 and a stutter, was not a patient of Roston, and investigators believe the two had no prior connection.

Roston faces charges including aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation of a child. At the time of the alleged crime, he was employed at Advocate Sherman Hospital, where he was certified in pediatrics but treated only adults. Hospital officials have since terminated his employment and issued a statement expressing deep concern over the charges, directing inquiries to law enforcement.

A Kane County judge ruled that Roston poses a threat to the public because the alleged assault occurred in a public setting. He has been ordered to remain in custody while awaiting trial, with his next court appearance scheduled for December 29. Roston, who resides on Chicago’s Northwest Side, had worked at the Elgin hospital since graduating medical school in 2019.
