KANE COUNTY, IL — A former suburban volleyball coach faces multiple charges related to allegations of sexual assault of a minor the coach mentored nearly 25 years ago. Arthur D. Weathers, of Elburn, has been charged with 11 counts of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, and 14 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony. The charges stem from allegations that the abuse occurred while he coached a minor between 1999 and 2001, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Authorities note that the investigation began after the victim reported the conduct to law enforcement in August 2025. Weathers previously served as both an assistant coach and head coach for the First Kill volleyball club based in Elgin, with involvement spanning 1999 to 2003. Prosecutors allege the victim was 16 years old when the abuse began, and investigators emphasize the importance of information from anyone who may have seen, heard, or otherwise witnessed relevant events.
