Abortion is murder and Illinois Condones It

Abortion is MURDER, and Our Illinois Government Condones It!
By Eric Stare
I’m not writing this as someone who thinks I have it all together. I don’t. I’m a sinner like anyone else, and I need God’s grace every single day. My values don’t come from political parties or headlines; they come from God and His Word. I know several women who have had abortions. These aren’t statistics to me—they are real people, real lives, and real pain.
When someone truly knows God, there are often deep questions and convictions surrounding that decision. That’s not judgment; that’s the work of conscience. Scripture reminds us that conviction is not the end of the story—it is the beginning of redemption. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Through Christ, forgiveness is real, and grace is available to everyone.
That is why what is happening in Illinois is so disturbing. Our state has positioned itself as a destination for abortion. Political leaders call it “access” and “progress,” but those words disguise a far darker reality. Behind that language are innocent unborn lives being ended and women left carrying emotional, spiritual, and physical burdens that can last a lifetime. This is not simply policy—it is permanent.
What is especially troubling is where our government places its priorities. When it comes to expanding abortion access, the response is immediate, organized, and fully funded. But when families struggle with rising taxes, crime, inflation, or the everyday burdens of raising children, solutions seem delayed, debated, and buried in endless committee meetings. Illinois leadership appears laser-focused in one direction while the needs of working families are pushed aside.
Then there is the issue of conscience. Illinois law can require healthcare providers—even those with sincere pro-life convictions—to provide referrals for abortion in certain situations. Think about that for a moment. A doctor who entered medicine to preserve and protect life may be pressured to participate in directing someone toward a procedure they believe ends it. That is not simply a policy disagreement; it is a direct assault on moral and religious conscience. Scripture commands us clearly: “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter” (Proverbs 24:11). For many people of faith, protecting life is not optional—it is a calling.
Leadership requires courage, and courage is often in short supply when an issue becomes politically uncomfortable. Too many elected officials would rather avoid this subject than risk criticism or backlash. But real leadership is not about protecting your next election—it is about standing for what is right. A leader with conviction governs with purpose, not fear.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5). That truth does not change based on polls, politics, or public opinion. Every life has value because every life is created by God.
That is why I am speaking out. I believe our state and local government have embraced policies that are morally wrong and spiritually dangerous. We cannot remain silent while innocent life is treated as disposable. The good news is that redemption is still available. Through Jesus Christ, forgiveness, healing, and purpose are possible. Accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. Salvation is a gift, and through Him, life finds its true meaning.
