The assassination of Charlie Kirk has galvanized a community.  Ironically, the day before 9/11, free speech advocate, Charlie Kirk, was gunned down at Utah Valley University while being invited to debate college students at the school.

Many Kane taxpayers rallied, calling for a prayer vigil on the steps of the Kane County Government center in Geneva.  The service, which lasted almost an hour, brought less than 100 people together for prayer in less than two hours after his assassination.

The attendees, which included tax payers and Kane County officials, prayed for peace in an age of less tolerance.  In a county bereft of strong leaders, many commented that it was refreshing to see leaders attend as well as pray for the Kirk family, their family, the nation and the citizens of Kane County.

When the federal government shut down and the Department of Education went dark, liberal media outlets and union leaders like Randi Weingarten rushed to declare disaster. They claimed schools would collapse and blamed President Trump for the chaos. But here in Kane County, parents saw the truth: schools kept running, teachers kept teaching, and students kept learning. The shutdown didn’t break education—it revealed how little Washington actually contributes to our classrooms. For decades, teachers unions and their allies in D.C. have insisted that states can’t manage education without federal oversight. But the shutdown proved otherwise. Funding for programs like Title I and IDEA continued to flow through established state-run systems. The Department of Education paused administrative tasks, not the actual learning. In reality, our schools are governed and funded locally, and the federal bureaucracy often adds more red tape than value. This moment is a wake-up call for parents in Kane County and across America. The Department of Education was born from a political deal, not a need for better schooling. Teachers unions have used it to push ideology and silence parents. But now, with federal interference temporarily out of the way, families are reclaiming control. The unions may panic, but we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done—supporting our kids, standing up for our values, and ensuring our schools reflect the priorities of our community. https://a57.foxnews.com/static.foxnews.com/foxnews.com/content/uploads/2025/09/720/405/randi-weingarten-speaks-at-event.png?ve=1&tl=1
