Pierog's Problems are just beginning
As madam blows kisses to the unions, taxpayers suffer

"Madam" Corinne Pierog receives the vast majority of her political contributions from labor unions (see Illinois Sunshine.org and Illinois State Board of Elections). The consequences for Kane County taxpayers are both immediate and deeply troubling. Union-backed officials often find themselves beholden to the agendas of organized labor, which can skew policymaking away from fiscal responsibility and toward costly concessions. This dynamic leads to inflated public sector contracts, unsustainable pension promises, and a resistance to reform—all of which are funded by the hard-earned dollars of Kane County residents. When elected leaders are financially "beholden" to union interests, taxpayers are no longer the priority—they become piggy bank collateral for political favors.
Corinne Pierog is so compromised that it's impossible to see a way that she can serve Kane taxpayers and payback her union funders. Her decisions cripple the financial stability of Kane County. With rising costs in healthcare, infrastructure, and public safety, Kane is being squeezed from all sides. Throw in out of control property taxes, and Corinne has a mess. Recently, "Madam" found herself telling board members that alcohol at strip clubs was justifiable since 401k's were offered to nude dancers. Madam is compromised. The stress has to escalate as she has a public who doesn't trust her free spending. Testimony at the county board meeting revealed "more than just party favors" at the strip club, yet Corinne pushed and advocated for her the strip club. If she's pushing for smaller donors, it's reasonable to consider that she's drowning in favors owed to all of her labor union donors.
Her ties to unions, union-driven wage hikes and benefit expansions—often untethered from performance metrics—are draining public coffers. Recently her push to increase taxes by fifty million dollars was unanimously crushed by the public on the ballot. The result? Budget cuts need to occur, but Madam appears to be owned, and as a result, finds her leadership limp at best. She hasn't negotiated one budget cut, but only advocates to more revenue.
As property taxes soar, and taxpayers leave, essential services like road maintenance, emergency response, and school funding face cuts. Pension obligations, bloated by union influence, are mortgaging the future of Kane County’s youth, locking them into decades of debt, or forcing them to follow the exodus to leave Kane. The county’s ability to invest in broad-based growth is being sacrificed to satisfy narrow interests, leaving taxpayers footing the bill for decisions they never agreed to.
But the damage isn’t just financial—it’s democratic. When one special interest group dominates campaign financing, it warps the political process and silences diverse voices. Madam has a PhD in milking the system, but refuses to serve taxpayers due to her donation handcuffs. Kane taxpayers deserve representation that reflects the full spectrum of community needs, not just the demands of the most organized and well-funded. Since Madam Pierog’s political backing is overwhelmingly union-based, it’s reasonable for citizens to question whether taxpayers are being heard at all.
This breakdown in trust is more than a political inconvenience—it’s a civic crisis. State's Attorney Jamie Mosser should investigate if and how compromised Madam is. If the State's Attorney won't investigate then, perhaps the Attorney General's office, under Kwame Raoul should investigate Corinne, as well as if there is any reason as to why Kane's State's attorney won't investigate possible corruption or pay for projects that Corinne may have agreed to.
Taxpayers in Kane County deserve better. For the families, homeowners, and small businesses of Kane County, the cost is being paid in higher taxes, fewer services, and a government that no longer works for them.
