Parent Files Lawsuit to ensure Civic Pride in Students

Parents take tremendous pride in raising children who understand the value of living in a free nation. Teaching civic pride isn’t about politics—it’s about helping young people appreciate the sacrifices that built this country and the responsibilities that come with being part of it. When children learn to honor shared traditions, respect the flag, and understand the principles that hold our communities together, they grow into adults who contribute, serve, and strengthen the nation their parents love.

That is why parents feel such concern when schools begin to downplay or dismiss the very lessons that once united students across backgrounds. When something as simple and meaningful as the Pledge of Allegiance becomes controversial or discouraged, families worry that children are being deprived of the grounding values that help them feel connected to their country and their community. Parents know that civic pride doesn’t appear on its own—it must be taught, modeled, and reinforced throughout a child’s school day.

Above all, parents want to be confident that the adults interacting with their children each day are reinforcing—not undermining—the values taught at home. They want teachers, administrators, and school leaders who respect the importance of civic education and who understand that children thrive when they feel rooted in something larger than themselves. Vigilance isn’t about suspicion; it’s about ensuring that every child grows up with a sense of belonging, gratitude, and pride in the nation they will one day lead.
