every woman has a care partner with waterleaf

In a quiet building in Aurora, something extraordinary happens every day.

Women walk through the doors of Waterleaf carrying fear, confusion, and often the weight of impossible choices. Some arrive alone. Some are young. Some already have children at home. Many don’t know where they will turn next.

What they find isn’t judgment.

They find calm. They find truth. They find someone willing to slow down, listen, and walk with them.

Waterleaf exists for women facing unplanned or unsupported pregnancies, especially those who feel overwhelmed, under-resourced, or pressured by circumstances beyond their control. Their work is simple, but not easy: meet women where they are, provide accurate medical information, and offer compassionate, life-affirming support at one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

At Waterleaf, a woman can receive a pregnancy test, an ultrasound, and counseling at no cost. But the support doesn’t stop there. Staff and volunteers take time to answer questions honestly. They talk through fears. They help women understand what’s happening in their bodies and what their options truly are. Often, they help women see that they are stronger and less alone than they believed when they first walked in.  Waterleaf provides hope to those who feel no hope.

And then there are the practical needs that go beyond hope.

For many women, choosing life isn’t just an emotional decision; it’s a logistical one. Do I have gas to get to appointments? Can I afford groceries this week? How will I pay for diapers, formula, or basic necessities?

This is where community support becomes critical.  Waterleaf doesn’t just offer words of encouragement; they help remove real-world barriers that create pressure and fear. A tank of gas. Food for the week. Baby supplies that stretch a tight budget just a little further. These things matter more than most people realize and often make all the difference.  Women are not alone.  Waterleaf partners in their hope journey.

Waterleaf treats every woman with dignity.  Many walk in defeated, judged and unloved.  Waterleaf infuses dignity into each woman.  Every story is respected. Every life is valued.  No one is rushed. No one is reduced to a statistic. Each woman is seen as a person worth time, patience, and care.

In a culture that often treats pregnancy as a problem to be solved, Waterleaf treats women as people to be supported. Quietly. Faithfully.   And should a woman choose to become a mother, Waterleaf walks with them after their baby is born.  Emotionally and financially standing with the mother who decided to invest into a new life.

Waterleaf depends on many, including individuals who offer support even though they may never step inside their building.  These benefactors and volunteers believe in the dignity of each woman who enters.  They believe in the life that will be brought into this world.  They believe in the volunteers who serve the women with dignity.  And they volunteer their time or their money and even their prayers.  Their compassion is real.  It's practical and it's local.

Waterleaf stands with women here in our own community. It's vested by helping in tangible, meaningful ways. And many of the volunteers have walked the path of doubt that many women carry when they first enter Waterleaf.  It means that each woman doesn’t have to walk alone.

Sometimes changing a life doesn’t start with a grand gesture.

Sometimes it starts with showing up, simply, generously, and at the right moment
