School board member admits disdain for the program

Hostility toward the Christian faith doesn’t just challenge adults—it sends a damaging message to children who are still forming their identity and understanding of the world. When Christian kids see their beliefs mocked, dismissed, or treated as something that must be hidden, they internalize the idea that their faith is a liability rather than a source of strength. This kind of pressure can make them feel isolated in classrooms, hesitant to speak openly, and unsure whether they are allowed to live out the values their families teach at home. A society that normalizes contempt for Christianity teaches its youngest believers that their convictions are unwelcome, which undermines the very principle of religious freedom they are supposed to inherit.

As this hostility grows, children often become the first to feel its weight. They may watch teachers or peers ridicule Christian symbols, hear adults imply that faith is backward, or even be told—directly or indirectly—that expressing their beliefs could get them in trouble. This creates a chilling effect where kids learn to self-censor long before they understand their constitutional rights. Instead of feeling confident bringing a Bible to school, praying quietly before lunch, or mentioning church activities, they begin to hide these parts of themselves to avoid being singled out. That kind of fear shapes their development and weakens their sense of belonging in their own community.

When a culture targets Christianity, it sets a precedent that no faith is safe. If children grow up believing that their beliefs can be suppressed simply because they are unpopular with certain institutions or cultural voices, then the future of religious liberty becomes fragile. Protecting Christian children from hostility isn’t about giving them special treatment—it’s about ensuring that every child, regardless of their faith, grows up in a country where they are free to believe, speak, and live without fear. Defending their right to express their faith openly is essential to preserving the broader promise of religious freedom for generations to come.
